You may know Jane from his Instagram profile with an awesome username: https://www.instagram.com/iksolokin/ or you’ve probably seen some of his photos on the profiles of his blogger friends. He is one more young photographer who spoke to us on a different aspect of creativity. Jane shared his advice on how to inspire yourself when you feel uninspired π
“Something that really helps me in these types of situations is going back to previous results and realizing how bad I was, and had no idea of how things were. If we speak about photography, I look back on how much I didn’t know how to take photos (I’m not talking about the technical aspect or handling a camera) or edit, or bring any kind of emotion. Add the fact that I’m often stuck in quic-sand going over and over the thoughts “it’s not worth it, don’t bother”.
At the price of sounding like the biggest cliche of the day, that is the only way to prove myself that I’m actually good, and there is some sort of progress in my work. I always go back to old photo-shoots and old photos, re-edit them, or correct photos I’ve always thought were not good enough, but now I see something in them that needs to be changed. It’s the only way to make me take photographs, anything, just to take photographs. The results from these efforts are not good, but are a good enough “match” for me.”
