I’ll start this off by saying Dani Komunikacija is always awesome. Year after year, I prepare myself that I might have too big of expectations based on the previous experience, that it’s too tough to keep up the same level of quality and energy with each new conference, but somehow, they always seem to grow and upgrade, and absolutely never let me down.
Each new conference gives so much motivation and inspiration to learn even after the conference ends, that by visiting it regularly, we at Brand Union kind of started considering it a regular creative energy boost. So, in order to give you a little sneak peek of this years conference, instead of going through all of the sessions (you can already find that on their website), here are 5 reasons why Dani Komunikacija 2022 was a great event, totally worth all the hype!
1. Dangerous Ideas
It might sound like a cliche of getting out of the comfort zone, but if I tell you that in the past DK conferences we had a chance to hear sessions from a woman cyborg, a man who draws paintings through a software connected to his eyes, I believe you’ll get the point π
This year, we had a shift of perspective in the way we work thanks to Maria von Scheel-Plessen from Gucci, the way we act online with the amazing Heroine journey by Rachel Lowensten, as well as the way we communicate, thanks to Tim Leake, James Victore and Mr. Bingo.
And this didn’t happen only during the sessions. This is how James Victore, who spoke about the importance of forgetting inhibitions, loving dangerous ideas and being weird and proud, warmed us up for his session π
2. Balanced Learning
There is a perfect balance between detailed “how-to” tutorials and inspirational “let’s change the world, starting with ourselves” sessions.
This year, Emmy award winning director, designer, strategist and educator Chris Do gave an quick tutorial on how to make 1000 pieces of content. He presented how he develops his posts, and led the audience through the process of creating content predestined to organic growth.
On the other hand, Mr. Bingo spoke about his quirky endeavors, leaving all of us wondering “should I just quit my job and start drawing spicy comics?” (definitely not :D)
3. Speakers are not superstars
After each session, there is a “Meet the Speaker” segment, where anyone can easily approach the speakers, discuss their ideas or just hang out. This enables the audience to get a more in-depth conversation, and breaks the barriers of classic teachers and students. Most of the speakers also like to party, so you can easily meet them in the evenings π
4. Awards Ceremonies
Even if you are not a part of the Croatian advertising & communications scene, the awards ceremonies for the Effie’s, MIXX, IdejaX and Young Lions awards are incredibly fun to watch. For some of the awards there are show case presentations which provide a really great sneak peek of what works and drives result on the Croatian market.
5. Organizing Team Chill AF
Yes, it’s a bit of a weird point for a conference presentation, but I have to say I’ve never seen a more relaxed team leading and organizing such a big event π What is more important, the team consists of professionals who really know their jobs, understand the guests, the industry trends and know how to create a great conference.
Definitely Love Dani Komunikacija
And there are a lot more reasons to love Dani Komunikacija.
From it’s magical location – the beautiful Rovinj and Hotel Lone, the great sessions planning which doesn’t make you get home exhausted, my favorite 360 stage, the cool merch, I could go on and on…But the main point is, start thinking about booking your spot on the next Dani Komunikacija right away π
